Specialized Training and Clinical Expertise

I am an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist with specialized expertise in child, adolescent, and family behavioral health, trauma treatment, and military family mental health. My professional training and clinical experience have centered on understanding the complex emotional, developmental, neurobiological, and relational effects of trauma, chronic stress, family disruption, and major life transitions across the lifespan.

As a certified traumatologist, my clinical approach incorporates trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions designed to address the psychological and physiological impact of traumatic experiences. My work includes assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, trauma-related symptoms, grief and loss, family stress, attachment disruptions, behavioral dysregulation, and emotional difficulties associated with chronic stress exposure.

A major focus of my practice has involved providing culturally competent behavioral healthcare to military service members, veterans, and military families. Military families face unique and often cumulative stressors that differ significantly from civilian populations. These experiences may include repeated deployments, combat-related stress exposure, prolonged family separations, frequent relocations, disruptions in educational and social stability, reintegration challenges following deployment, retirement transitions, caregiver fatigue, and the emotional impact of operational readiness demands.

My specialized military-focused clinical experience includes working with:

  • Children experiencing deployment-related separation anxiety

  • Adolescents struggling with identity, transitions, and emotional regulation related to military lifestyle instability

  • Spouses coping with deployment stress, role strain, caregiver burden, and marital stressors

  • Families adjusting to reintegration following deployment or military retirement

  • Individuals experiencing trauma responses associated with military service and family stress exposure

  • Families impacted by grief, uncertainty, and chronic operational stress

My approach recognizes that military culture represents a distinct social and psychological environment with its own values, expectations, communication styles, hierarchy, and resilience factors. Effective treatment requires cultural understanding, sensitivity to confidentiality concerns, and appreciation for the strengths and sacrifices inherent within military communities.

Clinically, I integrate trauma-informed care principles with neurodevelopmental, attachment-based, family systems, and resilience-focused approaches. Treatment planning is individualized and collaborative, emphasizing emotional safety, trust-building, healthy coping skill development, with the goal of restoration and maintenance of healthy functioning.

I established my multi-state telehealth private practice in 2020 during COVID to expand access to mental health care for children and youth, military families, rural underserved communities and neurodivergent populations facing barriers to mental health care.

The telehealth-virtual platform provides services that are accessible, offers flexible scheduling that is convenient with more availability and less wait time. Patient portal offers more direct communication with the provider while maintaining HIPPA complaince and privacy. My compassionate, and collaborative approach targets your special needs and is designed to support resilience, emotional wellness, trauma recovery, and long-term psychological health for children, adults, and families.
